WASBO Scholarships

Each year at the WASBO annual conference members donate items to the silent auction and bid on silent auction items.  The proceeds from the silent auction are used to fund scholarships for WASBO members.   Thank you to everyone that has helped raise money for the scholarship fund!

WASBO members can apply for scholarships for classes, workshops and the annual conference.  Scholarships are awarded based on need, WASBO involvement and prior WASBO course participation.  Depending on the number of scholarship applications, full or partial scholarships may be awarded.   Members can receive only one scholarship per year.    The deadline for scholarship applications for the annual conference is March 31.

History of the Scholarship Program

The WASBO Scholarship Program was established in 1993, to assist WASBO members in furthering their education or that of others in the areas of school business management.

Through the generosity of members and allied personnel, these funds are managed by the Board of Directors to assure maximum results/benefits.

Scholarships are granted for:

WASBO workshop registration fee.

WASBO class tuition (20 contact hours).

WASBO Annual Conference registration fee.

ASBO International Conference registration.

Who Can Apply?

WASBO members are eligible. Members may apply for more than one scholarship at a time (separate applications are required) and may apply year after year regardless if they have obtained one in a previous year.  Current board members serving on the selection committee are ineligible.

Scholarship Amounts and Requirements

No scholarship award shall exceed $500.00.  Applicants who have received previous scholarship funds will be required to demonstrate successful completion of the classes covered by the most recent award (e.g. submittal of a transcript or grade sheet).

WASBO reserves the right to not award a scholarship in any given category in any given year pending quality of the application, availability of funds, etc.

For attendance at the Annual Conference only, special consideration will be given to school districts with recent levy failures, and applicants should identify themselves accordingly.

Applications Process

The applications will be distributed to members upon their request.   Although the primary scholarship window of opportunity is in the Winter Quarter of each year, members may apply any time during the year where circumstances warrant them doing so.  The review process will occur throughout the year on an as-needed basis.
