Mission

The Washington Association of School Business Officials leads, partners with, and trains school business professionals to deliver effective business services in support of quality education

Vision

To be essential to the profession of school business management, and indispensable to the professional growth of our members.

WASBO’s Vision for the Future

By the Year 2010

    • WASBO is recognized regionally and nationally as the “go to” association due to our breadth of educational resources, expertise and knowledge base. 
    • We are a key resource to the governor, legislature, and citizens on operational and financial matters affecting school districts. 
    • WASBO actively represents districts before the legislature.
    • Superintendents, CEO’s and CFO’s see WASBO as vital to their and their staff’s success and actively encourage membership. Our membership includes all business managers and an average of four other staff from every district in the state.
    • WASBO operates a consulting “knowledge pool” that is heavily utilized by districts, outside groups (WASA, AWSP, WSSDA) and the press.
    • WASBO members receive high quality networking opportunities that build relationships, professional expertise and camaraderie
    • The annual conference is the highest quality and most comprehensive conference in the state and is attended by all school business officials.
    • All our committees are active and include accounting and budgeting, ASB, chief financial officers, facilities, food services, leadership development, legislative affairs, office support personnel, payroll/personnel/retirement, purchasing/warehouse, records management, risk management, small schools, technology, and transportation components.
    • Committee meetings are conducted both in-person and electronically to enable all members to participate.
    •  WASBO offers well-developed professional training programs for all aspects of school business that are relevant, current, effective, efficient, profitable, and appropriate for member and potential member needs.
    • A comprehensive slate of online, in person and electronic course offerings are provided
    •  Coursework in instructional leadership and  professional presentation skills is offered
    • Educational, professional recognition or certification opportunities are offered for each business official group in WASBO including accounting and budgeting, ASB, chief financial officers, facilities, food services, leadership development, legislative affairs, office support personnel, payroll/personnel/retirement, purchasing/warehouse, records management, risk management, small schools, technology and transportation.
    • Completion of WASBO coursework is considered a requirement for professional advancement
    • WASBO has a large cadre of qualified instructors
    • WASBO offers a masters degree program in educational finance administration
    • WASBO enjoys strong  professional image
    • 1300 business officials belong to WASBO
    • WASBO owns or leases a facility that meets the needs of the staff and membership with the capacity to provide classroom space or electronic transmission for courses.
    • WASBO maintains an electronic repository of process-related documents for members to use
    • WASBO operates a job resource enter for employees and employers.
    • WASBO maintains strategic partnerships with WASA, AWSP, WSSDA, SAO, OSPI etc.
    • The WASBO board maintains an adequate fund balance at year-end
    • The quantity and quality of research, marketing, education and publishing on school finance issues is significantly increased.
    • Members are excited about participating and feel rewarded by WASBO membership
    • WASBO enjoys a large pool of qualified individuals who volunteer to serve on committees, in leadership positions and on the board.

WASBO's General Refund Policy

A $25 non-refundable service fee will be charged for refund requests received ten (10) calendar days prior to the date of any event. There are NO refunds made after this deadline ~ No Exceptions ~ WASBO Membership fees will not be refunded. In case of inclement weather, please call (800) 524-4706 to determine if an event has been cancelled or rescheduled. If the event proceeds as scheduled, NO refunds will be granted.

All fees paid for Surplus Ads are non-refundable.

WASBO's regions

    • The Puget Sound Region (green) includes Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, King, Kitsap, Clallam, Jefferson, San Juan and Island counties
    • The West Central Region (blue) is Pierce, Thurston, Mason and Grays Harbor counties (blue)
    • The Southwest Region (tan) consists of Lewis, Skamania, Clark, Cowlitz, Wahkiakum and Pacific counties (tan)
    • The Central Cascades Region (pink) is made up of Okanogan, Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Kittitas, Adams, Yakima, and Klickitat counties
    • The Inland Empire Region (purple) encompasses Benton, Franklin, Walla Walla, Columbia, Garfield, Asotin, Whitman, Lincoln, Spokane, Pend O’Reille, Stevens and Ferry counties
